About the NRC

NRC Resources + Information

 

 

 

 

 

The National Referee Council (NRC) is the body within Pistol Australia (PA) responsible for ‘officiating’ operating under the NRC Charter>>. 

 

As such the NRC:

  • has developed and implemented range official courses>>covering all the events conducted under PA control.
  • Interprets and applies rules at PA competitions for:
    • ISSF Pistol
    • Mayleigh Cup
    • IMSSU Metallic Silhouette Pistol
    • International 1920 Match
    • WA1500 150-shot events
    • WA1500 60-shot Open event
  • is also responsible for the formulation of the rules for the PA events
    • PA 25m (Aggregate) Black Powder
    • PA 50m Black Powder
    • PA 13-shot Black Powder
    • PA Service Pistol
    • PA Service Pistol Unrestricted
    • PA 25 Yards Service Pistol
  • appointing the Jury and supervising the PA National Championship competitions

 

The NRC’s structure is:

  • NRC Director; elected by the PA Executive for a three-year term.  The current Director is Spencer Tweedie.
  • Eight (8) NRC Councillors, one from each Affiliate, elected by the PA Executive for a two-year term.  The current Councillors are:
    • WAPA                   Carol Coombs (WA)
    • PNT                        Bill Low (NT)
    • ACTPA                  Jenny Gregory (ACT)
    • NSWAPA             Les Spurrier (NSW)
    • VAPA                    Peter Davis (VIC)
    • SARPA                  Peter Harding (SA)
    • TPA                        vacant (TAS)
    • PSQ                        Margaret Baker (QLD)

 

Paralleling the NRC is the Affiliate-based State Referee Councils (SRCs). 

While the NRC is responsible for appointing the Jury and supervising the PA National Championship competitions and the qualification of PA Judges, the SRCs are responsible for appointing the Jury and supervising the Affiliate State Championship and Open competitions and the qualification of PA Range Officers.

 

The also NRC provides a range of resources for the pistol sport, including:

  • Rule books for all the PA events, ISSF, and ‘Action Pistol’; available through the PA Affiliate offices, and the PA Office.
  • Web-based information>>; regularly updated to cover a newsletter, rule amendments and interpretations, a Q&A service on the rules, etc.
  • Guides for Range Officers>>; available for download from the resources web pages.
  • Scoring aids; e.g. overlays, gauges, etc. for the PA pistol events .
